A £12 million dance centre in Leeds by Strategic Design Alliance, a partnership of Jacobs Architecture and Leeds City Council’s in-house architects, has been granted planning.
The six-storey building will include seven dance studios, office space, a health suite and a costume workshop. It will be home to the Northern Ballet Theatre, Phoenix Dance Theatre, a full-time classical dance school and Leeds Metropolitan University’s dance degree courses.
Leeds City Council has invested £6.7 million in the project, while the National Lottery is funding £3.5 million. A campaign aims to raise a further £1.5 million.
